Summary

This study derives explicit poroelastic coefficients for anisotropic materials with either one pore system or two interacting pore systems. Its central method is a superposition construction: a sequence of elementary loading states yields the fluid mass-balance equations and identifies the associated Biot tensor, Biot moduli, and related coefficients. For a single pore system, the resulting conservation equation agrees with an independent derivation based on continuum thermodynamics. This agreement provides a consistency check and demonstrates two complementary routes to the same governing description. Examples for granite and sandstone show how the coefficients can be evaluated using material properties reported in the literature. These calculations connect the analytical expressions to parameters needed in coupled deformation and flow simulations, helping modelers select internally consistent properties for anisotropic single- and double-porosity media.
